S.C.C stands for Supportive Community Connection Program.
Social isolation, loneliness, and limited community connection have negatively affected our seniors’ physical, mental, emotional, and relational health.
To address this, we continue to expand our weekly supportive community connection group. We have about 20 seniors who meet weekly. This program has created a consistent space where seniors socialize, form lasting relationships, and receive encouragement from peers and volunteers.
This S.C.C. community group meets once a week for three to four hours, which include various
activities such as gentle exercise, games, singing, dancing, crafts, social media learning, nutritious
lunches, coffee time, educational and fun excursions, an annual weekend getaway, and celebrations
for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, and other special occasions.
Once a month, we also invite a professional guest speaker who enlightens our seniors on various
practical topics such as food and nutrition, physical exercises, fraud & abuse prevention with the RCMP, travel, learning to use technologies, media and communication, addressing mental and
emotional health issues etc. All these sessions increase awareness, strengthen life skills, and help
seniors stay informed, safe, and engaged.
